We understand the importance of opportunity at Tewkesbury Borough Council, especially if you are in or about to leave education, returning to work or just looking for a new career. We have, therefore, sought to provide career development programmes that build your knowledge, skills and confidence.
Apprenticeships
Our apprenticeship programme provides a great introduction to the world of work and offers a strong alternative to college or university, as you can continue to learn and start earning. We invest in our apprentices and will develop you throughout your placement, including regular work reviews and relevant in-house training alongside the qualification training.
Our passion for creating quality apprenticeships has been recognised:
Tewkesbury Borough Council has been shortlisted as a finalist for Large Apprentice Employer of the Year in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
We have also been shortlisted for Apprentice of the Year - Public Services in 2019 and 2020.
Work experience
If you are looking to gain some experience in your chosen area or are not sure which area of industry will best suit you, we have also devised work experience opportunities in all our service groupings.
Whether you are looking for employment specific to working in a local council, or a career that can also be fulfilled outside public service, we have an opportunity for you.
Our work experience programmes are available throughout the year, so take a look at our vacancies to see the opportunities we have currently.
Training and development
Whether this is your first job, or you’re established in your career, we invest in developing our staff for the future. We commit to training being a continuing process, taking place at any level, in any job, and at any stage of an individual's career.
We will support you in short courses, NVQs or other formal qualifications, management and supervisory training and attaining professional memberships.
We actively encourage all employees to let us know if there is any CPD they wish to undertake, so we can support them in expanding their skillset.
The council is a fantastic place to work, and we are committed to leading a healthy and happy workforce. Because we value all employees both long-serving and new, you will gain access to our comprehensive benefits package from day one.
