We're proud of the culture we're building - one that prioritises wellbeing and trusts people to do their best work. These themes from across our workforce reflect what our people value most about working here:

Making a difference locally There is a strong sense of pride in serving residents and making a meaningful difference locally.
Learning, development and progression There are opportunities to learn and develop, and conversations about development are encouraged.
Being yourself at work Staff feel comfortable being themselves at work, supported by a respectful and inclusive culture. Different perspectives are welcomed, and that makes the organisation stronger.
Flexible working The council understands that people work best when they have flexibility and trust.
A supportive, friendly workplace People are genuinely friendly and supportive here, you feel part of a team, not just a job title.

Armed Forces Covenant Bronze Award

The Bronze Award recognises employers who actively support the Armed Forces Covenant and promote fair and inclusive employment practices for serving personnel, veterans, reservists and military families. As a council, we value the skills, experience and dedication that members of the Armed Forces community bring to the workplace.

Achieving the Bronze Award reflects our values as a community‑focused employer and our ongoing commitment to being a responsible, inclusive and supportive workplace. We continue to build on this foundation as part of our journey to further strengthen our support for the Armed Forces community.

Healthy Workplace Award

Tewkesbury Borough Council has been accredited by Healthy Workplaces Gloucestershire (Healthy Workplaces - Home), the national accreditation standard that recognises an organisation's commitment to improving the lives of those who work there. We received the foundation accreditation on Tuesday, 7 June 2022, followed by the enhanced accreditation on Monday, 24 October 2022, after an extensive process of site visits, evidence gathering, staff interviews and a final assessment.

With this accreditation, we are proud to say that we are leading a healthy and happy workforce.
